hats #3

I fell in love with these old school baseball hats from Ebbets Field Flannels when I came across them in a boutique in Park City. I HAD TO HAVE one to wear to rep SF and found out I could custom make my own, so I designed and placed an order! It is perfect for a weekend hat to wear around the city or more for me to hide my messy hair on a travel day. I will be wearing this hat far from the streets of SF throughout the season!

These one of a kind hats are for sale for $49 through our Etsy shop (more detailed pictures are here too!) or you can email me directly at to place an order! This specific color combination and logo has been ordered in a limited run, so first come first serve. The back has an adjustable leather strap that will fit most head sizes!

I was cold all weekend for the first time in a long time. November 1st hit and it was felt like winter was officially here! This post was prompted since I was out of town I didn’t pack the proper accessories to layer on and to stay warm. During this colder seasons my favorite key pieces of my wardrobe are my scarves, hats and mittens. As jewelry is harder to make a statement with, cold weather accessories can add a pop of color or texture to an outfit and pull the look together along with added the warmth (most importantly!). They are also great presents to give over the holidays!

There are so many to choose from, but below are 15 of my favorite cold weather accessories right now.

IMG_0357 I spent the last five days in Saas Fee, Switzerland totally unplanned and loved it. It is a little city up in the mountains a couple hours from Zurich that sits below the tallest mountain in Switzerland (similar to Wengen that I visited last year here, but a bit bigger!). It is a walking city only and a Disneyland for adults. There are no cars allowed other than mini cars for the businesses. They have a glacier where skiers can ski up to 10 months a year accessible by two gondola rides and a train through a mountain to the top. The weather up on the glacier felt like the middle of winter while down in the town was more mild and sunny. We were told from a local they get around 300 sunny days a year. Saas Fee 1 I spent most afternoons exploring in and out of shops or aimlessly walking through the narrow streets getting lost. I loved all the different colors of the shutters on the houses from bright yellow (above) to reds, blues and greens along with the blooming flowers in the windowsills or around the entrances of the homes. They also had these really cool old huts on the outside of the city built on cement raisers and rocks (pictured below). The huts hold hay and grains for the town and are raised, so that the mice can not get to them! saas fee edit

On this afternoon, after the sun set behind the drastic mountains it got a little chilly and luckily I had my beanie with me! My new 360 Sweater kept me warm enough with the added beanie. It still felt Fall like with no snow on the ground, so my new Superga sneakers (yes I can’t get enough of these shoes!) were perfect for the walking duration.  I pulled the look together with my favorite pair of high waisted denim… the Rocket fit from Citizens of Humanity. It’s a true higher high rise that I find flattering and comfortable! saas fee detailsWe ended up eating the best fondue I have ever had at this little restaurant on the edge of town called Zur Muehle that is also a Bed and Breakfast. As most restaurants and hotels in the area it is family owned for many decades and they were extremely friendly and nice to us. I highly recommend this place! They invited us to come back the next day for a traditional Swiss meal called Rosti that was amazing too! I feel like I could go on and on in this post, but it’s late here in Austria now and my internet isn’t working very well…so that’s all for now! IMG_0534

I am so excited how the Shred Vanna sunglasses turned out! I helped with the Shred Optics design two Summer’s ago when my boyfriend was telling me I had to wear his company’s sunglasses and they didn’t have a wide selection of female specific sunglasses at the time.  He told me to gather up some designs and color combination of sunglasses that I would like to wear and the Vanna’s were born! They come in 4 different color combinations, my favorite being the tortoise shell with dark wood arms I am wearing in the picture above. They and are perfect for the girl that wants to be active and sporty, but still look feminine. I plan on wearing mine on and off the slopes!

IMG_0176I have been anxiously waiting for the weather to cool down, so that I can wear my new amazing wax coated Paige Edgemont Skinnies back to softs sweater for a cozy Fall look! I highly recommend this pair if your in the market for a coated skinny because they are soft to the touch and fit like a glove! I love the front double zipper detail on them too. They have the effect of being edgy if exposed with a shorter cropped or tucked in shirt or the effect of just a plain black coated skinny with a longer tee or’s 2 for the price of 1! I paired them with my new Autumn Cashmere pullover sweaters for a whole lot of zipper detail and sleek lines. Wax coated jeans can be easy to dress up or down this season. You can wear them for a date night with a silk tank or dressy top back to heels or for a more casual everyday look pair them back to a sweatshirt and sneakers…and again it’s 2 for the price of 1! They scream sexy with a bit of edge and are often slimming!

At the begging of the season I told myself …DO NOT BUY ANOTHER PULLOVER SWEATER MIA. I have so many already in neutral colors and stripes, but then I caved and got this pretty reddish burgundy one. I loved the color, fit and the lines with the zipper details on the bottom. I have been eyeing this zipper trend for awhile and I like it because it gives you options to wear it loose or fitted pending on the layer underneath or the bottom you decide to pair it back to! Other ones I have been eyeing are at J.crew, Rebecca Taylor and a Current/Elliott sweatshirt version!

TutuThe imagination of a three year old is just pure magic. Born in the county and raising children in big city, I am always looking for an outlet, an escape from cars, the noise and the busy streets. A place of wonder where the imagination can run just as fast as little feet can carry it.  I have been taking Gjelina to this field in the Presido season after season and even though it is right past the big city gates it still provides a sanctuary and a place to explore.  Today it was a magic forest as she looked though her handmade DIY  paper glasses at tree fairies and she twirled in her magical pink twill skirt.

TuTU_6This was not a typical outfit for running though the fields, but she wanted to dress like a princess and I convinced her it was a better option than her ‘Sleeping Beauty’ princess dress.  I fell in love with this star sweater at Zara and knew that she would love the pale pink skirt just based on the fact that it was one step down from a tutu.  The shoes are just her “favorite sparkly slippers”.  I finally got her out of her pink sparkle flats by buying her a new pair of gold sparkly slippers.  The best part was that she really did look like a little fairy in a magical forest.

// Accessory Concierge Tough as Nails Necklace //

The month of October is annual Breast Cancer awareness month to raise awareness and funds for research  into its cause, prevention, diagnosis, treatment and cure. BCA hits home for us as both our grandmothers were survivors of breast cancer. We think it is very important to raise awareness to this disease and get your annual check-ups at all ages (this website is helpful for an early detection plan). We loved this ‘Tough as Nails’ necklace from Accessory Concierge for $36 and even better this company donates 20% of the proceeds to the from the purchase of the BCA necklaces and bracelets. We will be wearing ours all month and beyond in support of BCA!

…in this fun top you could be heading anywhere!

This flirty Zara steal was a must have for the couple weeks I was in San Francisco during the peak of Indian Summer. I thought it was a fun date night or going out top, that would also look great under a blazer or sweater.  While Leopard print is trending this season I still can’t seem to get enough of other animal prints too..python, cow, zebra…you name it ! I liked this cow print top because of the fit and detail of the flowly peplum back and buttons on the top of the back.

Animal prints can be tricky and I’m probably not the first to think or feel like what I am wearing is WILD, but this Fall it is a stylish way to get out of your comfort zone. Keep it simple by pairing a printed top back to neutral color bottoms, wear an all over animal printed dress or accent a neutral colored head to toe look with an animal print accessory for many different occasions. Give it a try and I bet you get a couple compliments out of it!

One of my favorite cross streets in San Francisco is Lyon and Pacific St. These two streets cross at the highest point of Pacific Heights on the edge of the Presidio and a block above the famous Lyon Street stairs. Looking down each street gives you a new sight from the Golden gate bridge and bay in one direction, the forest of the Presidio in another as well as Twin Peaks and the urban sprawl of the city down the other streets.

I had a fun afternoon last week after school outside painting with my Mom! She was inspired to make some kinda of homemade street paint with food coloring, corn starch and water that I helped her mix up. We then headed outside in front of my house and painted animals.

gj sittingMom and Mia are all about animal printed anything and everything right now. They have been convincing me these leggings are the ‘bees knees’ since we got them back in August. While I do like them, I am not sure it warrants how many times they make it through my rotation of clothes lately. They told me the wear them with these sweet new quilted hi-tops from Zara (they have the best girls shoes!) and my button down for a dressed up sweatpants look. They told me that dressing up my sweats was another cool thing to do this Fall. I think they are cray cray!

This fall it’s all about PLAID. I went shopping this week and didn’t walk into one store that didn’t offer some type of plaid print in a variety of fabrics and silouettes. So many plaid is available right now from a typical flannel button down shirt or dress, a soft cashmere beanie, an all over plaid printed pea coat, seen on Olivia Palermo this week or a silk tee (like the Equipment one I am wearing)…it is everywhere..hear of the brand Rails yet? This won’t be the last time you see me wearing it!

As your collection starts to grow (you must have some in your closet from years past!) it can be  fun to wear two plaids together! Try a neutral colored one, like this black and white buffalo check with a more fun colorful one to play up the trend if your feeling risky. If your feeling safe or need a go-to, a plaid button down will looks great paired back to almost any denim for many occassions and you should feel like your right on trend this season.

IMG_9939I am LOVING the new 1969 Gap black and gray jeans line. The Always Skinny Skimmer I am wearing here is super soft and hits me at the perfect ankle length (I’m 5’5”).  They have some great darker gray and black washes like the wax coated and a destructed pair I have my eye on too. For $70 with some sort of sale option usually happening these are a steal!
